I very much regret this huge loss and feeling the pain his family are going through, I want to share the hope that very soon "will be a resurrection from God", as the Bible tells us in Acts 24:15. Courage and strength to all your family at this painful time. www.JW.org

Our thoughts and prayers are with you and the entire Melhart family in you time of loss. Through our junior high and high school years, she was always a the top of the class in academics and quietly working in a variety of school and community activities. Teddie was a friend back then and though I have not seen her in years, I am certain she was the same caring person and friend through out her life. With certainty, I can say that she will be missed by all those that knew her in the Class of '71.

Teddie Melhart Wright was born on the 4th of May 1953, in Corpus Christi, Texas to Walter and Dorothy Melhart and passed away on Friday, the 28th of November 2014, after a valiant two-year struggle with multiple myeloma, a blood cancer.

She received a BA in Psychology with High Honors and an MS in Social Work with Highest Honors from the University of Texas at Austin. She was a well-respected and loved adult, child and family therapist in Houston for over 30 years. Her work was meaningful. Her life was full of joy and light and wonder. She was always learning and connecting with loved ones. Teddie was an avid gardener, birder and artist and a member of the Southampton Garden Club and Watercolor Art Society-Houston.

Teddie was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Bill Melhart. She leaves behind her loving husband of 25 years, Thomas F. Wright, and incredible daughter, Kaylor Elizabeth Wright; siblings, Jim (Betty) Melhart, Bette (Ray) Hagen, Susan Burke, Larry (Suzanne) Melhart, Julie Munsch, Joe (Becky) Melhart, Kelly (Norma) Melhart, Jeanne (Faron) Morrison; sister-in-law, Vicki Melhart, and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Her family and dear friends uplifted her and surrounded her with love and care.

A memorial service will be conducted at two o’clock in the afternoon on Sunday, the 7th of December, at the Bradshaw-Carter Home, 1734 W. Alabama Street in Houston. Immediately following, all are invited to greet the family during a reception to be held at the Bradshaw-Carter Home.

In lieu of customary remembrances, contributions, in Teddie's name, may be directed to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, Texas Gulf Coast, 5433 Westheimer Rd., Ste. 300, Houston, TX 77056 (www.lls.org).
