I very much regret this huge loss and feeling the pain his family are going through, I want to share the hope that very soon "will be a resurrection from God", as the Bible tells us in Acts 24:15. Courage and strength to all your family at this painful time.

Ruby Irene Jatzlau Behrend, 95, passed away peacefully on April 28, 2015. She was born April 15, 1920 in Giddings, Texas to Charles and Minnie Jatzlau. She was affectionately known as “Granny” by all who knew and loved her.
Upon moving to Houston, Ruby met her beloved husband of 56 years, Herbert I. Behrend, while at church. Throughout the years, she assisted and supported Herbert with his residential building company.
Flowers were Ruby’s pride and joy. She believed that beautiful flowers were a gift created by God. And just as the sun gives life to flowers, Jesus gives life to one’s soul. She cultivated this love by graduating from floral design school in 1951, from what is now known as the Texas A&M Benz School of Floral Design. 35 years later she was honored to receive an invitation to the dedication of the M. Benz Floral Arts Building. She was always impeccably dressed and had an eye for high style and design, and in her younger years modeled clothing at the Rice Hotel for various retail stores .
Ruby was a charter member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church. She served in the Altar Guild for 26 years designing floral arrangements and assisting with communion presentation. She was also an avid volunteer for the M.D.Anderson Chaplaincy.
She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Herbert I. Behrend, and daughter, Barbara Jane Keller. She is survived by her son, Ricky Ray Behrend and wife Rene; grandchildren, Kyle Behrend and wife Sarah, Rachel Seidel and husband Sam, Larry Keller and wife Paula, Lois Keller-Nelson, and Porter Keller and wife Christy; 9 great grandchildren; sister, Frances Beauchamp; and numerous other loving relatives.
Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family from six o'clock until eight o'clock in the evening on Friday, May 1, at the Bradshaw-Carter Home, 1734 W. Alabama Street in Houston.
The funeral service will be held at ten o'clock in the morning on Saturday, May 2, at St. Matthew Lutheran Church, 5315 Main Street in Houston.
The interment will follow at Earthman Resthaven Cemetery in Houston.
In lieu of the usual remembrances, Ruby requested donations be made to the Edward J. Mahnke Endowment Fund at M.D. Anderson Cancer Institute.
In lieu of the usual remembrances, Ruby requested donations be made to St. Matthew Lutheran Church and Houston Hospice.
