I would like to express my deepest sorrow for the lost of your dear loved ones. The pain, grief, and the feelings of helplessness can seem unbearable. At such times, we need to go to Gods word for comfort. Please take your Bible and look at what God promises for the future with regard to our dead loved ones. ( John 5: 28,29, Acts 24:15) Yes, God really will defeat our enemy death forever. This will enable us to one day have the hope of seeing our dead loved ones again. I hope this message will be a source of comfort to you. If you have any questions feel free to contact one of Jehovah's Witnesses or log on to our website at JW.org. Sincerely yours, JW

JW, Houston, Tx

My deepest condolences to the entire Thompson family. I was first introduced to Mary by her brothers Don and Mike and my sister Jackie, before Mary and I entered Nolan High School as freshman. Mary was always fun, candid and caring. In our adult years we occasionally spoke over the telephone during my travel layovers in Chicago but we lost contact with one another during the last nine years. I will always remember Mary as a fun and jovial person as well as my very first high school date. My prayers are with the entire family.

Tom Moore, Arlington, TX

My sincere condolences for your family. A warm hello to Matt, class of 76. Prayers sent for Mary & your family.

I'm so very sorry to hear the news of Mary's passing. She was such a joy and I loved her. We worked together for 15 years at MCI - and I can't recall ever seeing her without her infectious smile. Her greatest love was her large family who was always formost on her mind. My deepest sympathy for your great loss - Mary will be missed.

Dear Linda and the Thompson Family I am shocked and my heart is breaking as I'm sure are yours. The 70s, surrounded by Thompsons, enriched my life and gifted me a lifetime of treasured memories. Mary, always a joy, had such an endearing considerate nature. May you find comfort in sharing your own memories providing her graceful soul everlasting life. I pray for you to be sustained, by knowing she's joining those, we so love, that will care and embrace her, as they are protected and at peace upon the wings of the Almighty's divine presence. I'm truly sorry I will be unable to attend her service; My most sincere condolences, as always, May Peace be with You, Anita

I am so sorry to hear about Mary's passing. She was a colleague at Motor Coach Industries and after the company moved, I tried to locate her but could not. I had moved on to a new job a few years before. At work, she was one sassy, smart and funny colleague always ensuring clerical mail was processed on time. She needed those cigarette breaks and refused to give up on those though I would ask her to cut down on her smoking habits. As a friend, she was kind and compassionate and leant a shoulder at a time in my life that I needed one. I have never forgotten her words as she always helped cheer me up and would say, "Millie matters!" I know Mary will keep everyone on track in heaven above and keep everyone laughing with her sassy and fun jokes while she smokes up a storm. May she rest in peace - my prayers to all the family!

My strongest memories of Mary are trying to play defense against her in the Catholic junior high league basketball games before we all went to Nolan. As you say, she was a force. It was such a relief to have her finally be on my team at Nolan! I love reading that her candid commentary and wonderful laugh never changed. I'm sure she won't entirely rest in peace until the Cubs win the World Series this year. Godspeed, Mary; we were all blessed to know you.

Anne Guenzel, Arlington, TX

I am so sorry to hear of your loss Ms. Thompson. You are in my thoughts.

Vicky MItchell, Houston, TX

Mary Patricia Thompson was born on January 23, 1953 in Hackensack, NJ. She was the fourth of nine children born to Charles (Chub) and Connie Thompson. Mary attended school in Washington Township, NJ, Cleveland Heights, OH, and graduated from Nolan Catholic High School in Fort Worth, TX. After high school, Mary moved to the Chicago area with the family and resided in Lombard. She retired in 2010 after twenty nine years at Motor Coach Industries. In 2012 she moved to Houston, residing at the Brookdale Retirement Community in West University to be closer to her siblings.
Mary was the heart of her family, was quick to laugh, and made everyone around her laugh with her flat observations that were always, always 100% candid. She had a dead-eye basketball shot growing up, was competitive with her six brothers on the basketball court, and loved asserting her age superiority when it came to the use of the family car.
Mary was an avid sports fan. She loved all things Chicago Cubs and Houston Astros.
Mary was one of thirty-one grandchildren on the Thompson side and enjoyed an annual reunion with her girl cousins, the last in Nashville a few weeks ago. Mary also shared in a close relationship her Mother’s family, especially her Aunt Ro.
Mary was an avid reader, particularly about U.S. history. She read over twenty books about Abraham Lincoln.
When the Thompson family gathered for holidays and reunions, there were fierce games of trivial pursuit. The teams were always girls versus boys; and Mary was the girls' ringer, because of her reservoir of knowledge of history, sports, literature, movies, and celebrities.
Mary loved attending family functions and keeping up with the happenings of her fifteen nieces and nephews and their fourteen children. Mary is survived by her father Chub (Joan), and siblings: Linda (Dennis Kelly), Mike, Pete (Franceen), Jerry (Peggy), Matt (Cindy) and Marty (Christa), Maggie (Martha). Awaiting Mary in heaven are her Mom, Don, Gregory, Fred, and many other relatives.
