I very much regret this huge loss and feeling the pain his family are going through, I want to share the hope that very soon "will be a resurrection from God", as the Bible tells us in Acts 24:15. Courage and strength to all your family at this painful time. www.JW.org

I will be eternally grateful that Mariann and I got to be such dear friends in such a short time. She taught me so much about LIFE in such little time! Jenny, my sincere condolences to you and the family. We will continue praying for each one of you and for the eternal rest of Mariann's soul.

Mariann Thornton, daughter, sister and friend died peacefully on February 10, 2015 surrounded by family and friends. She died after a long, courageous battle with esophageal cancer. A twenty year survivor of a previous cancer, she believed this was “NOT A DRESS REHEARSAL” and lived every day to its fullest.

She was born February 13, 1948 in Fort Worth, Texas. After moving to Houston in 1960, she attended Bellaire High School and Texas Tech. She was employed for the last 28 years by L & R Midland. Her sister, Jenny Jackson, would like to give thanks to the owners for their kindness, generosity and love they have shown to Mariann throughout the years. Thanks to all her friends for their love and support this last year.

A very special thanks to her best friend of 54 years, Jamie Sikes Kuempel and to Dr. Charles Conlon and his nurse Margaret for their attentive care.

She was preceded in death by her loving parents Mary and Herbert Thornton. She is survived by her sister, Jenny Jackson, four aunts, one uncle, many cousins and a multitude of friends.

A celebration of her life will be held on February 13, 2015, half past ten o’clock in the morning at Bradshaw Carter Memorial and Funeral Services. Burial will follow at Memorial Oaks Cemetery.

God, thank you for giving her to us for 66 years and letting her show us dignity, grace and love in the face of death.
