Margo Elizabeth Lamb was born on 19 July 1934, in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania and died peacefully in Houston on 19 January 2014. She was the only child of George B. and Margaret Fonos Lamb. The family arrived in Houston in 1940s, where Mr. Lamb, a Massachusetts Institute of Technology graduate, was a geophysicist for the Gulf Oil Company. He died in 1956, Margaret in 1988.
Margo attended McGregor Elementary School, Johnston Junior High, and the Saint John’s School where she graduated in the spring of 1952. That fall, she went to Smith College, spent her junior abroad in Geneva, Switzerland, and graduated from Smith College in 1956. Her interests included Houston Grand Opera, Houston Museum of Fine Arts, classes at the Women’s Institute, and other cultural activities. She was a faithful Episcopalian and attended Palmer Memorial Church.
Margo was a kind, intelligent, and loving person, with an uplifting spirit to all who knew her. She is survived by her cousins David and Loni Saunders of Hilton Head, South Carolina; Eileen Glaven of Scituate, Massachusetts; Lynette Lamb Frawley of Odessa, Texas, and also by many devoted friends.
A memorial service honoring Margo's life will be held on Friday, February 28, 2014 at Palmer Memorial Episcopal Church, 6221 Main Street, in St. Bede's Chapel at eleven o'clock in the morning with a reception to follow.
In lieu of flowers, and for those desiring, a memorial donation may be made in Margo’s memory to the Houston Museum of Fine Arts, Houston Grand Opera, or the charity of one’s choice.
