María del Rocío Amozurrutia Duran, 68, passed away in her sleep on November 18, 2015. Born in Mexico City, she relocated to Laredo, Texas in the 1960s. Later, she moved to Houston, Texas where she raised her only daughter for several years and where she became a member of Houston’s thriving art community, organizing events and fundraisers to support artists and their work. She was also a talented artist in her own right.

She is survived by her partner, daughter, son-in-law, two grandsons, a sister, five brothers, and several cousins, aunts and uncles. A private service will be held in her memory. The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, charitable donations be made in her name to:
