Kim Linette Turney was born on October 23, 1958, to the union of Emma L and Samie Mitchell Turney, in Detroit, MI.
Kim attended school through the public school system of Detroit. Kim had a great desire to work in the medical field. She belongs to a special group that studied the nurse’s assistant program while in Butzel Middle School.
Later joining Job Core so she could further complete her studies and learn other skills. She later attended the Crochet Skill Center. Kim obtained many awards while learning her skills. She also had a desire and passion for modern dance. Kim was one of the regular students of the dance troop of Martin Luther King School.
Kim’s employment started working in various agencies which prepared her to work in the Henry Ford Hospital where she worked before relocating to Houston, TX to spend time with her son, Charles Mitchell Lawrence Turney, Brother- Anthony Turney and other family members. Kim continued her work in the Healthcare field at Turney Nursing Services until she was unable to return to work.
God saw fit to take Kim home on August 31, 2015.
Kim was the second of six children. She is preceded in death by her oldest brother- Kenneth Jerome Cook (Arbelle) and her father Samie Mitchell Turney (Anna Maria). Kim leaves behind her son, Charles Turney, Daughter in law- Lucette Turney, three beautiful grandchildren: James, Julian, and Ciera Turney. She leaves behind her mother- Emma Cook, her brothers Anthony Turney (Amanda), Samie Turney Jr (Maria), and William Turney, her sister- Tracey Avery (Michael) along with nieces and nephews. A host of friends and co-worker. She will be missed by many.
The funeral service will be conducted at eleven o’clock in the morning on Friday, September 4, 2015, at St. Luke’s United Methodist Church. 3471 Westheimer Road, in Houston. The family will gather after the reception following the church service for interment at Cemetery Beautiful, 8401 Wheatley Street, in Houston at half past one o’clock in the afternoon.
