To the family of Dr. Matice--I am a practicing occupational therapist because of your Mother. I think of her often and words can not express how very grateful I am to her. I look forward to seeing her in heaven.

Dear Chris and family, We are so sorry for your loss. Kathy and Denny were both such special people and we feel very fortunate to have known them both. We were unable to be there on the 10th as we were out of the country, but send you our very sincere condolences. Please do stay in touch, Ron and Eileen

Kathy and I became friends 35 years ago. Her bright and gentle spirit made it so easy to know her. She came to our home right after Denny passed away and we talked some. She will always be dear to me. I look forward to knowing that we will continue to be friends into eternity. Pattie

Kathryn always made me smile. Her sweet & kind ways were food to the soul. I had the joy of being in the Christian Life Study group with her at St. Martin's. I will miss seeing her each week, but rejoice knowing that she is with Jesus now. May God surround you with his perfect peace during this difficult time & may precious memories comfort you.

Emily Talpas, Houston, TX

My condolences go out to all of Katherine's family. I knew her from the evening Bible Study groups and will miss the insights and knowledge that she shared in our groups. She was a very peaceful and caring soul and I pray that she has found peace with our Lord in heaven. She will be greatly missed and I am blessed to have known her.

Kathryn L. Matice, 75, died on February 4, 2014. She was preceded in death by her husband Dennis in April 2013. She is survived by her sons Christopher and Michael; brother Roger and sister Marsha; and grandsons Jeffrey, Steven and Eric. Kathy grew up in Hamburg, New York, met Denny in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, raised her children in St. Louis, Missouri and moved to Houston where she lived for more than 35 years. Dr. Matice practiced clinical psychology in Houston starting in 1979 after receiving her Ph.D. from the University of Missouri, St. Louis. She was an avid participant in her Bible study group at St. Martin’s Episcopal Church and her local therapists group. Her interests included music, decorating, fashion and gardening. Her kind and loving nature will be greatly missed by the many people whose lives she touched and the many patients she has helped over the years. A celebration of Kathy’s life will be held at the Bradshaw Carter Home, 1734 West Alabama Street, Houston TX 77098 on Monday February 10, 2014. Visitation begins at five o’clock that evening, followed by a service at seven o’clock.
