Johnflowers (one word) wouldn't look at anyone else at the Isle in Chicago in the '70's once Sheile Kenneally walked in, in her MReese uniform! He married HIS LOVE but truly became our friend-brother-cousin what ever it took to let us in the kitchen at Irish Pub! I was two days out of a coma and his phone call from Hiuston was put through...maybe he used the word "mayor". Please tell Teagen and any other little Flower Buds all of the stories of this true and loyal man. That wat they will always know of his love of family, friends and Irish eyes! Slan,

Mary Beth, Houston, Texas

Sorry for your loss .Our love and prayers go out to you and Family.

The Derby's, Houston, Texas

Sarah Pant If you get in the truck and John is driving, you could easily end up in another state. You never knew where.

sarah pant, Houston, Texas

To the Flowers family, I was greatly saddened to hear of John's passing. He was a friend and I always enjoyed visiting with him at Kenneally's which I have frequented since about 1985. Kenneally's was his creation from top to bottom. I recall him telling me with pride that it was EXACTLY 8 feet from one site of the bar to the other (he built it). I hope that you find comfort in having family and friends around you. To John, Slainte! Miss you.

Michael Forlenza, Houston, Texas

So sorry to hear about John. when we were deciding where to live we stopped in the pub, John welcomed us and we knew we made the right decision to move in this neighborhood. He will be missed, our deepest sympathy.

MaryBeth Kelly and Jack Blankenship, Vermont Commons Neighborhood, Texas

Dear Shelia and family, We would like to extend our sincere condolences upon hearing of John's death. We will always remember him fondly from the good times at the Emerald Isle, Chicago. He was one of the last quintessential Chicago bartenders, which Houston Texas was fortunate to experience. Charming, gracious, fun and the best. May God hold him in the hollow of His hand.

Tom (former mayor of the Emerald Island) and Margaret Flanagan, -, Chicago

Our sincere condolences to Sheila and the Flowers family. John was a true pioneer in introducing traditional Irish pub life to Houston. Kenneally's has always been a place where everyone - from singles to families - felt welcome. John was one of the first to showcase live Irish music bringing in bands from across America and the pond. He was also one of the first to serve freshly-prepared food from the pub's own kitchen. Over the years, John mentored several of his bartenders who have gone on to become successful pub owners themselves. He will be missed. Rest in peace, John.

Mike and Vanessa Carr, Houston, Texas

I'll never forget the good times we had, the hurtles you overcame and your determined love for your family. I miss you

Paul Nelson, Woodlands, Texas

I'm sure Keven was there to welcome you. Eternal rest grant onto your souls and let perpetual light shine upon you.

John, you always made me laugh and I am so happy I knew you for so many years. Sheila, Monica, Mary and Kevin ... you now have a guardian angel that will be with you forever. My thoughts and prayers are with you during this difficult time.

Bonnie Beard, Houston, Texas

I was deeply saddened by the news of John's passing. My heart felt condolences to you and your family. Don't think of John as gone away his journey's just begun, life holds so many facets this earth is only one. Just think of him as resting from the sorrows and the tears in a place of warmth and comfort where there are no days and years. Think how he must be wishing that we could know today how nothing but our sadness can really pass away. And think of him as living in the hearts of those he touched… for nothing loved is ever lost and he was loved so much.

Dennis McCann, -, CA

I will remember John fondly. Were it not for him, I never would have met my boss, Jim Markle, or "Coors Light Jim", 8 years ago. Slainte, John! My thoughts and prayers are with you all. He was quite a character.

On our wedding day (23 years ago yesterday), John showed up at the church just as my dad and I were getting ready to walk down the aisle. We laughed about that every year…he never failed to call us on our wedding anniversary. Rockets games, pizza, lots of great memories. He'll be missed!

Our deepest sympathy Sheila and family. I am glad I had the pleasure of meeting John at the joyous celebration in Houston last May. Although, I only met him once I felt I knew him from all the warm stories about the Flower's family shared by Teresa. May John rest in peace. Love,

Sheila and Family, I was sad to hear of Johns passing yesterday, our hearts go out to you all. Irishmen don't go easily and when they do it is sad, but, we always have a load of great memories to remember them by. We had allot of fun working at the Isle in Chicago and I'll always remember Johns quick wit and warm smile; a true Irishman! God bless you all and have faith in these trying times.
