Mr. Engelbrecht was a great neighbor and friend. he will be missed around the circle and by all who new him. he is now with his wife and resting in God's hands. rip

Spencer was born July 7, 1923 in Lake Forest, Illinois to the late Herman and Hildreth Engelbrecht and died on January 3, 2015. He is survived by his children Cecilia and Ray Gastmyer and Dolly Edwards. By his grandchildren John (Barbara) Gastmyer, Robert (Anna) Gastmyer, and Lynda (Mark) Anderson, 7 great grandchildren, 6 great-great-grandchildren, his sister-in-law, Mary Engelbrecht, nieces and nephews, James, Andrew, Amy, Joan, Barbara, Louise, Dale, Jr. Eddie and Mike.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 64 years, Mildred, his brother, Paul Engelbrecht, and sisters, Rebecca Vance and Marianne Louise Engelbrecht.
Spence was a long time employee of Consolidated Tiles and had a great love for family, friends, Katie, and sports.
The family will receive friends for a visitation on Wednesday, January 7, 2013 from ten until half past eleven thirty with a rosary beginning at eleven o’clock in the morning at the Bradshaw-Carter Home. A graveside service will follow at noon at Forest Park Lawndale. Pastor Rev. Al Sinasac, CSB of St. Anne Catholic Church will be presiding.
Memorial Contributions in Spence’s memory may be made to the Dominican Sisters of Houston (Retirement Fund) 6501 Almeda Road, Houston, TX. 77021.
