I very much regret this huge loss and feeling the pain his family are going through, I want to share the hope that very soon "will be a resurrection from God", as the Bible tells us in Acts 24:15. Courage and strength to all your family at this painful time. www.JW.org

Dorothy S. Coleman McCarty, 76, went to be with her Heavenly Father on December 1, 2014 in Houston, Texas. She was born on January 21, 1938 in Crockett, Texas to Sara Sue and Dan Otto Coleman.

Dorothy was raised in Houston, Texas and graduated from Stephen F Austin High School, having participated in such extracurricular activities as the Scottish Bagpipe Brigade. Upon graduation, she married her high school sweetheart, Robert McCarty, who entered the Houston Fire Department shortly thereafter. They were married for forty years when his struggle with lung cancer ended in 1995. She was the loving, quintessential family matriarch, raising her daughters with dignity and grace. Dorothy was also breast cancer survivor, a classy introvert who was silent but shrewd, and a gemologist in her own right, studying all kinds of jewels and beautiful jewelry. She was a decades-long member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Park Place Chapter #731 in Houston and she whip-smart, patient and strong. Her love and inspiring influence will be greatly missed.

She was predeceased by her mother and father, her brothers, James Coleman and Dan Clifton Coleman, and the love of her life, her husband Robert William McCarty. She is survived by her four daughters and their spouses: Patricia Elaine and John Fraser, Jo Ann McCarty and George John, Mary Katheryn and Guion Roberts, and Pauline Elizabeth and Troy Lovetro. She is also survived by nine grandchildren: Margaret K Fraser and John J Fraser III; Sibyl Miller Swift, James A Miller Jr, and Benjamin E Miller; Kathleen E Dimmick, Thomas I Dimmick, Tara A Lovetro, and Vincenzo S Lovetro, and by seven great-grandchildren.

Friends are invited to a visitation on Wednesday, December, 3, 2014 from 5-8 p.m. in the evening at the Bradshaw-Carter Funeral Home, 1734 West Alabama Street, Houston, Texas. A graveside service will be held at 11:30 a.m. with a viewing available beginning at 11 a.m. on Thursday, December 4, 2014 at Oakwood Cemetery, Huntsville, Texas.
