My dear sweet Ashley, may you rest in slendid peace in our Lord's Arms. No more pain, no anxiety, no fear - only precious love & eternal peace. You are my inspiration to keep fighting my own battle with cancer. Your strong example & never-ending faith in God is one of your exceptional characteristics & we will all miss you sweetheart. God bless your devoted parents & loving friend George. Rest in peace my dear & give big hugs to Gangie & PawPaw for me!!! Love always, Teresa, Tony, Adrienne & Elena

ASHLEY LYNN MIZELL, 27, was born on July 13, 1987 to Vicky Lynn and Luke Warner Mizell, Jr. at Hermann Hospital in Houston, Texas. Ashley was embraced by Angels on September 30, 2014.
Ashley graduated from Mirabeau B. Lamar Senior High School in 2006. She attended Blinn College and Texas A&M before earning an Associate’s Degree from Houston Community College. She was pursuing her Bachelor’s degree at the University of Houston at the time of her death.
Ashley didn’t tolerate prejudice, always seeing the best in people. She was an avid reader sharing Kindle books with her mother. Ashley was very creative and loved art and art history. She loved animals, selecting the runt of the litter, Lucky, for the family pet. Ashley was an equestrian and competed in many English Hunter Jumping Events on her beloved Rockets Red Glare, “Rocky”. She leaves behind her sweet dog, Oreo. Her favorite hobby was fishing, which she shared with her boyfriend George.
She is preceded in death by her Grandfathers Billy Tom Britain, James Otis Guy and Luke Warner Mizell; her grandmother Geraldine Mizell; her great-grandparents Max and Dollie Larrieu and Irene Weaver; great Aunt Paula Mason; her Uncles William Leslie Britain and George H. Miles. She is survived by her parents Vicky and Luke Warner Mizell, Jr., Grandmother Mary Ann “Mimi” Guy, and half-brothers Patrick, Warner, Paul Mizell and their families. Her great Aunts and Uncles Pam and Ronnie Mauk, John Douglas Fennell, Pat and Don Jobson and Dobby Cort. Her Aunts and Uncles Debbie and Ric Britain, and Annette and James Rhea. Her dear cousins Joshua Rhea and his wife Jerica and their daughter Zoe; Brittany Dawn Rhea, and Bridget Curran and her husband Jeb and their daughters Alexea and Destiny. Second cousin Theresa Bates Hunt and her husband Tony and her daughters Adrianne and Elaina.
She is also survived by the love of her life, George Dimitrios Drogaris, his brother Andrew and parents Heather and Dimitrius George Drogaris . His grandparents, Becky and Sal Spoto, and George Dimitrios Drogaris. George and his family cared for Ashley as if she was part of their family. They organized blood drives and stayed by her side the many months she was in the hospital. Words can’t express our gratitude to this family.
In lieu of customary remembrances, contributions in Ashley’s memory may be directed to the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center at Gifts.mdanderson.org for the Department of Stem Cell Transplantation and Cellular Therapy. Donations of blood are always desperately needed.
Special thanks to Stefan Octavian Ciurea, MD and Jan Burger, MD as well as the outstanding nurses on the Leukemia, Stem Cell Transplant and Intensive Care Units. Vicky and Warner want to acknowledge the nurses’ professionalism, clinical expertise and compassion they showed Ashley. Vicky would also like to send a special thanks to the management of US Imaging and the staff of East Side Surgery Center and Fort Bend Surgery Center for their love, support and blood donations.
